You have done it again! "Absolute Pitch" captures the readers from the first to the last page. It's a page-turner filled with surprises. The characters that became such part of me in "Overtones" kept me spellbound once again, but my heart bled for poor Rip. Thank you for a superb story and superb ending!
Having read Unni Hoel's first novel "Overtones" I waited eagerly for the sequel "Absolute Pitch" and when I finally got my hands on it I kept reading nonstop until the end. The story carried me forward on waves of music and love, as Tanya finally finds the right man. Her son, Rip, follows in his parents' footsteps and develops into an accomplished musician and opera conductor. Unfortunately he falls in love with the wrong woman and begins an affair that ultimately causes pain tragedy and death. As the plot unfolds in various countries on two continents, I joined the characters on their quest for love - traveling from city to city and from concert halls to opera stages. "Absolute Pitch" has all the best elements of a good romance novel.
Unni Hoel has written two engaging novels with music and musicians as the theme. This author's love of and professional experience in classical music is evident, and the stories she weaves around it are entertaining and refreshing. Both of her works, Overtones and its sequel Absolute Pitch are passionate adventures about musicians told by a first-class storyteller. Great reading which I enthusiastically recommend.
